A woman trusted to care for vulnerable people stole more than £80,000 from them.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard how Zoe Coates, 41, of Lancaster Road, Garstang, stole to clients’ savings.

Because the legal process is still ongoing we cannot comment further on this matter until those proceedings have been concluded.

She has admitted six counts of theft between June 2008 and March 2015 . In one case she stole more than £50,000 an elderly couple.

She also took £4,078 from the man over a separate period. The bench heard she took £87.22 from one client and a further £21,692 from another, over a two-year period.

A vulnerable woman also fell prey when Coates stole £3,553 from her and another woman had £6,024 stolen.

Coates had worked for learning disabilities charity Hft. A spokesman for Hft said: “Because the legal process is still ongoing we cannot comment further on this matter until those proceedings have been concluded.”

Coates will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on July 14.
