A distinctive bright red Nissan GTR is being sought by police after a cash in transit robbery in Preston.

The robbery happened at around 7.15am on Friday, October 31 at McColls Newsagents in Ribbleton Avenue.

It is believed that three or four men entered the shop armed with baseball bats and machetes and threatened staff and a security guard who was filling the cash machine inside the shop.

The men left with around £50,000 in cash and the security guard sustained a minor cut to his hip.

Police believe they drove away from the shop in an Audi car which has since been recovered, but now officers are keen to trace a distinctive bright red Nissan GTR (Skyline) seen driving away from the scene of the robbery.

The Nissan was last seen travelling along Ribbleton Avenue towards the junction of Blackpool Road at about 7.20am and may be an outstanding stolen vehicle.

DS Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “The red Nissan may still be in the Preston area and I would urge anyone that may have seen the car or knows of its whereabouts now, to contact us as soon as possible.

“Any information you may have could help us with our enquiries.”

Call the police on 101 quoting log reference 200 of October 31.
