Lancashire police have launched a manhunt after three masked men staged a shotgun robbery in Preston.

The raid happened at 1.50pm today near JTF Preston cash and carry wholesaler on Pittman Way, Fulwood.

Police were later examining a cash box that was dumped by the roadside on Oliver’s Place and police dogs and a police helicopter were combing the area.

Now Preston CID are hunting for three white men in Balaclavas and tracksuits who sped off in a silver Ford Fiesta.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to a robbery of a cash in transit van at Pittman Way.

“Three offenders all wearing Balaclavas and tracksuits, believed to be white males, have presented a shotgun to the security staff and have taken the cash box from them.

“They made off in a silver Ford Fiesta with the numberplate AO58YWC.

“We believe it is a cloned plate.”

Preston CID are currently investigating and we would ask any members of the public who saw them before or afterwards, or the the silver car to get in touch.”
