A man summonsed to appear at court stands accused of a catalogue of historic sex offences, say police.

Christopher Hartley, 56, of Denham Avenue, Warrington, is accused of a catalogue of historic offences which allegedly occurred at the Harris Children’s Home in Preston.

He is accused of attempted rape, seven counts of indecent assault and four counts of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency.

The alleged offences were committed between 1972 and 1978 and involved four female victims aged between 8-16 years at the time.

The home, which was on Garstang Road, closed in 1982.

Hartley is due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on February 23rd.
