Police are hunting a man who robbed a 15-year-old boy of his bike at knifepoint.

The offender, who had his face covered by a scarf, threatened the youngster with a black-handled kitchen knife as he was pushing his bike between Plunginton Road and Havelock Street, Preston on Sunday at around 2.30pm.

He is described as white, aged 18 to 19, around 6-feet tall and wearing a black zipped Nike top. He was also wearing black jogging bottoms and black footwear.

DC Ian Zanelli said: “This was a particularly terrifying and unnerving ordeal for the teenager and I urge the person responsible, or anyone with any information at all, to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to talk anyone who was near to the scene at the time of the incident who may have seen the suspect in the vicinity.”

Police say the youngster was walking with his bike when the offender approached him. The man told him to hand over his bike and then cycled off in the direction of Plungington Road.

The bike taken was a distinctive yellow Diamond Back ‘Synch 1.0’ mountain bike.
