An elderly man has been left without his mobility scooter after it was deliberately set-alight, say fire services.

Fire fighters were called to reports of a blaze outside a property on Hornby Road in Blackpool at around 8.30pm on 19 February.

Crew Manager Glenn Thwaites said: "We arrived to find a mobility scooter on fire.

"One engine from Blackpool attended and used a hose-reel to extinguish the flames.

"Neighbours reported seeing youths running away from the scene and police are now investigating.

"The mobility scooter was completely destroyed by the fire."

Nobody was injured during the incident.
