Arrest after man stabbed in Morecambe

A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed in Morecambe.

At about 7.30pm on Friday, a 45-year-old man was stabbed to the shoulder on Needham Avenue.

It is believed the offender fled the scene in a silver Vauxhall Zafira, with the registration number DU63EEW, which was being driven by someone else.

The victim was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he was treated for a single stab wound and has since been released.

A knife was recovered by officers at the scene and the car was later recovered on Borwick Court, Morecambe.

Police say inquiries are ongoing to trace the offender who is described as white, about 6ft tall and around 25 years of age.

He is believed to have been wearing a jumper with an Adidas logo and a black waterproof type waist length jacket with the hood up.

A 20-year-old man from Morecambe was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and assisting an offender and has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

DI Phil Jones of Lancaster CID said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us with any information they have.

“I am aware that a number of people have already come forward however I believe that there will still be people that saw the incident which has left the victim with a serious injury.”
