Three fire engines were called to a fire at a Chinese takeaway in Bamber Bridge.
The blaze, which involved the fryer range and extractor ducting, broke out at about 7.20pm on Saturday.
Staff at Yu’s Garden in Station Road had attempted to put the fire out with a dry powder extinguisher before the fire crews arrived.
The ducting system had caught fire and spread into the roof of the building.
Four firefighters with breathing apparatus entered the building, and a ladder was used to access the roof.
Mark Noblett, watch manager at Bamber Bridge fire station said: “It looked worse than it was. We stopped it spreading to the roof.”
Mr Noblett said the damage was confined ducting.
Two fire engines from Bamber Bridge and one from Penwortham attended.
They spent around one hour tackling the fire and smoke at the building.
