A two-vehicle crash on the M6 is thought to have been caused by a dog running loose on the motorway.

Police received reports of a dog on the carriageway on the M6 at Junction 31, near Salmesbury, at about 10am today.

Shortly afterwards two vehicles were involved in a crash which police say was “due to the dog.”

It is not thought that anyone was seriously hurt, although ambulances were despatched to the scene.

Two lanes are still closed northbound and there are delays in the area.
