Hesketh with Becconsall Parish Council are developing a village trail, to be launched as part of their Love Hesketh Bank campaign later this year.

To kick start it, they are asking villagers to take part in ‘Walk a Country Mile’ on Sunday, following a path that will become the first part of the trail.

Residents are asked to report to Booths in Station Road for a 2pm start to Walk a Country Mile in support of The Prince’s Countryside Fund.

“This is a great way for us to test the first part of our village trail,” said Coun Steve Kirby, who is heading up the project.

Participants are asked to donate £3 each, and the walk will take approximately an hour, covering 1.5 miles in total from Booths to the old church and back. It will take in points of interest along the way including West Lancashire Light Railway - which is offering a free train ride back if walkers need a rest.
