Consultation opens to discuss the future of culture in city

Future of culture: Prestons Harris Museum

Future of culture: Prestons Harris Museum

Were you inspired by the special events that took place all over Preston during Guild 2012?

If so, Preston Council wants to hear from you.

The Preston Cultural Framework project is being put together by a group from the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, Lancashire County Council and UCLan to set out priorities for culture in Preston over the next five years, and a consultation process is now taking place.

Alex Walker, Head of Arts and Heritage at The Harris Museum, said: “Guild 2012 showed that there is an appetite for arts and culture in the city and that, with appropriate focus, the arts sector can come together to deliver programmes and services which can reach out to and involve wide audiences from Preston and which can attract visitors to the city.

“We would like as many people as possible to contribute to the consultation. Not just people involved in the cultural sector but a wide range of Prestonian who enjoyed the Guild and who have something to say about how arts, culture and heritage can help make Preston a great place to live in and to visit.

An online survey will be available until Friday at www.surveymonkey.com/s/PrestonCulturalFramework or write to Alex at the Harris.
