More than 30 people have formally objected to plans to demolish the former Penwortham Police Station on the juntion of Crookings Lane and Liverpool Road.

Ribble Vets, which is currently based in New Lane, Penwortham, submitted plans to flatten the 1930’s station and replace it with a purpose-built part two, part single-storey building with conference facilities.

Neighbours have expressed concerns about increased traffic and parking problems, that the design is not inkeeping with the character of the area, and about noise from a dog exercise area.

The plans were originally to be dealt with by planning officers, but due to the level of local concern, a ward councillor has requested it is discussed by members of the planning committee. No date has been confirmed, but officers said it is likely to be in February.
