New Year meant new romance for Jayne Holden and Stephen Smith.
The couple met when Jayne, a nursery nurse from Goosnargh, was working as a barmaid at the Green Man, Inglewhite, in 2001.
“We knew who each other were but Stephen thought I was only 15 so it was about four months till we actually got together,” says Jayne, “that was at the Grapes Inn at Goosnargh on New Years Eve.”
The couple became “inseparable” and two years later they took a day trip to the coast.
Jayne says: “We were in Blackpool and we walked to a jewellers
“Stephen told me to pick a ring, and asked me to marry him – not very romantic!”
Jayne and Stephen, a building contractor also from Goosnargh, celebrated their engagement at The Stags Head, Goosnargh with their friends and family.
Three years later they were joined by their first baby, Jack.
As Jack turned one, the family went to Disneyland Paris on their first family holiday.
Completing their family, Hannah, came along two years later.
On October 27, Jayne and Stephen were married at Barton Grange Hotel.
“Our wedding day was perfect in every way,” says Jayne
“I was expecting to be a nervous wreck because I always am, but I was calm and Stephen was the one suffering with a bad case of nerves.”
In tribute to Stephen’s former career as a farmer, tables at the reception were all named after makes of tractors and the seating plan tractor themed.
“My favourite part of the day was waiting to go down the aisle as the pianist played Ronan Keating, ‘When You Say Nothing At All’, and seeing Stephen,” Jayne continues.
“I had all my favourite people around me and felt so happy to have my children, nieces, best friend, oldest friend, and my mum and dad with me.
