The Royal Navy vessel that was adopted by Preston during the 2012 Guild will make a return visit to the city on Saturday.
At 10.45am HMS Charger, under the command of Lt. Cdr Ian Critchley, will enter Preston’s dock, with Mayor of Preston Coun Nicholas Pomfret aboard.
HMS Charger is the Universities Royal Naval Unit (URNU) ship for Liverpool universities.
The ship will enter the dock escorted by Preston Marina’s own boat, Preston Belle where she will do a full lap around the 40 acre dock basin before coming alongside the marina’s visitor jetty.
HMS Charger will then be open to the public this afternoon between 1pm – 4pm, and will stay overnight at Preston Marina until her departure at around midday on Monday before the high tide.
