St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall is running a course to teach people meditation skills to care for both body and mind in six steps.

The hospice is launching a six-week programme covering an introduction to the ancient art, how to practice it, and how to incorporate it into a daily routine.

Elements will include lessons in breathing techniques and tips on how to achieve a greater awareness of your own body.

Ian Dewar, chaplain at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “I have taught various types of meditation in different settings for 20 years and I am continuously amazed at how such a simple and ancient practice can improve people’s lives, simply by taking a few minutes out of each day for themselves.”

The next programme begins on
February 6 and continues each Wednesday over seven weeks, with one week off for half term.

Each class runs from 5.30pm until 7pm at the hospice in Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall, Preston.

Registration is £99 with money raised going to the hospice. Call 01772 629171 for more details about the sessions.
