September has been another fantastic month for pupils and staff at Worden.

Hot off the heels of celebrating their record breaking results in August where 100% of pupils achieved 5A*-C grades at GCSE, Worden had a visit from OFSTED where they were judged to be a GOOD school.

Under the new framework that has in recent months changed twice, Worden was given half-a-day’s notice that Her Majesty’s inspectors would be judging the school and the education it delivers to the pupils of Leyland.

The report, published on October 4, gave the school the rating of GOOD in all four areas of pupil achievement, teaching & learning, behaviour & safety and leadership and management.

The report went on further to state that leaders, managers and governors have an accurate view of the school.

Improvements in students’ attainment have been rapid, substantial and sustained.

These, together with other improvements, show the school’s excellent capacity to improve.

Days after the inspectors had gone, Worden were proud to showcase their achievements in education by supporting the local community at the Leyland Festival on Worden park that was rearranged after heavy rain in July. As thousands of people packed into Worden Park they were entertained and wowed by fantastic Worden singers and dancers and captivated by the range of activities and events that were available in the Worden Marquee. Bringing September to a close, Worden held its annual Open Evening on Thursday, September 27.

Prospective parents and pupils packed Worden to the rafters to enjoy the extensive activities that were on offer.

Parents commented on the fantastic facilities that Worden had to offer and heaped praise on the staff and extremely helpful pupils that represented Worden with Pride while showing off their school on the night.

Headteacher Chris Catherall said: “September has been an amazing month for Worden, we promised record breaking results and have delivered year on year, we were extremely proud to support the community at the Leyland Festival and OFSTED have proven that we have delivered on our promise to offer a GOOD education to the pupils of Leyland.

“Quite simply, my promise to you is that Worden will be an outstanding school that offers an outstanding education to the pupils of Leyland.”
