City on song

The focus of the British music industry will be on Manchester next week as a top new music festival In The City gets under way.

Bolton's Cherry Ghost, Reverend and the Makers, Romeo Stodart, Manchester's The Whip and Simian Mobile Disco will be onstage October 5-7.

As part of a tribute on Sunday to In The City founder and Factory Records legend Tony Wilson, singer/songwriter Karl Eland and new Preston band, Stephen Buckley and the Feverdreamers join 22 other artists at the 24 Busk for Tony outside M19 Bar, Stockport Road, Levenshulme.

Advance tickets 3, 5 on the door and donations go to Christie's Hospital.

On Monday at 7pm Preston's The Uncomfortables play alongside The Brute Chorus at The Tiger Lounge, in Cooper Street. Entry is free.
