Church set to use England’s World Cup stars to spread the word this summer

Talk about the hand of God!

Worshippers will be praying for an England win today – inside a Preston church.

Fulwood Free Methodist Church, on Lightfoot Lane, is hoping to entice new people to church by screening all of England’s matches in high definition on a massive 14ft by 8ft screen.

It is thought up to 200 people could wing their way to the church for the first match against the USA this evening as the clergy try to pitch the event at people who may not normally come to church.

Rev Chris Drury revealed the church has been set out in a ‘cabaret’ setting with tables and chairs for families to come and enjoy the big screen action, free of charge.

Today, as the church made the final preparations for the big match at 7.30pm, he said: “We are doing this for a host of different reasons.

“We always like to open our doors to the public to come in; we want to be a part of the community and this celebration.

“One of the reasons we launched our building project was to equip the church to invite people in.

“We have a lot of people in the church who are football mad so this is about having a family environment where people can come with their children to a safe place.

“Some parents may feel uncomfortable taking their children to watch the football in the pub, but they will be able to bring them here knowing it is a safe family environment.

“There will be no alcohol as we have worked with people who are recovering from issues with alcohol, and children will be present, so it wouldn’t be appropriate.

“But we will be getting into the spirit, serving hotdogs at half time. A lot of our congregation will be bringing friends and family. We did this during the last World Cup and it was very well received.”

While the event will cater for the congregation, Rev Drury admitted he would like to see more new faces coming to church as a result of the project, and added: “I hope we do get people coming along and seeing our church, but its not one of the conditions of coming in.

“We just hope that people who have been suspicious of church will see what it’s about – that the people here are normal fun loving people.”

As you have difficulty in reading 1.I said the LAST government! 2.If English culture still exists why is it deemed racist to say you're English? Why is it deemed offensive to fly the English flag in England? 3.The Frankfurt Subversion technique has been proven to be used by the Labour government with it opening up our borders and allowing the diluting of our culture! It's popular amongst the BNP keyboard army and amongst the whole media!Simply because it's what is used to describe what the last government did! 4.If anyone on here needs to open their eyes it is you! 5.Kaffur is a term from the quo'ran that describes all non believers! 6.It also states in the quo'ran to kill all non believers in Sura 9:5. 7.It's because of people like you this country is in a right mess! And will only get worse by the day!

Last time I checked, the Labour party was not in power and there is still an English culture, and, for those that want it, Christianity. If that is not enough to mark out the ranting of "kaffur" as that of a right wing nutter, his use of the term "frankfurt subversion technique" is. This phrase is popular among the BNP's keyboard army and other crackpots from the far right, who repeat the same old lies parrot fashion in the hope that the more a lie is repeated, the truer it will become. I'd better shut up now before I get accused of being an agent of ZOG.

The sooner religion is phased out, the better. As we evolve, less and less people will be willing to believe in magic, which can only make for a more intelligent race.
