The search is on to find sporting heroes throughout Chorley.
After a year’s absence, Chorley Council has brought back the popular Chorley Sports Awards.
The competition is for people who have achieved or excelled in sport, and clubs that have gone that extra mile for their members.
Bosses who have organised the competition are calling on people to nominate the unsung heroes in a number of categories.
Awards are available in the categories; Coach of the year (performance), Coach of the year (grassroots), Young Volunteer (14-24 years), School award, Rising star (Under-19), Elite individual performer, Performance Club of the Year, Community club of the Year, Lifetime achievement and the Special recognition.
Coun Bev Murray, who oversees sports activities for Chorley Council, said: “From grassroots to elite sports there is so much going on in the borough that it’s only right we recognise those who contribute so much to our community.
“We’ve had a fantastic year of sporting achievements with many clubs and individual athletes representing Chorley on the regional and national stage.
“We want people to nominate those they believe have achieved or excelled in their chosen sport, or those who have inspired others.”
Nomination forms are available from the council offices on Union Street, Chorley.
The deadline is Monday, November 3 with the ceremony taking place on Friday, December 5.
