Pupils at Alston Lane Primary School in Longridge proved they’re not a squeamish bunch after charming 870 worms our of the school field in 20 minutes.
The task, part of a PTFA fundraising event, was the brain child of site supervisor and nature lover Andy Small.
There were 33 teams of charmers on the day, who were all provided with a two metre square patch of field, and allowed water and implements to hit the ground with.
Head teacher Mark Fitzgibbon said: “We had five minutes of people jumping around and then 15 minutes of coaxing the worms out. Mr Small then counted all the worms and redistributed them around the field.
“It was a really good day and everyone enjoyed other activities including a barbeque, a challenge the teacher Connect4 and penalty shoot out.”
