Youngsters will be able to have a splashing good time again this summer thanks to free swimming sessions.
In a scheme run by Chorley Council, thousands of children under 16 years old will be able to attend the free sessions for a seven-week period during the summer holidays.
They will run at All Seasons Leisure Centre and Brinscall Swimming Pool.
Coun Bev Murray, who oversees activities for young people at Chorley Council, said: “We have run this scheme a few times now and it has proved extremely successful, with around 3,500 youngsters taking advantage last year.
“The aim is to encourage young people to live healthy lifestyles and make good use of their local leisure centres as by starting good habits young, it is more likely that these will be continued into adulthood.
“By offering sessions for free, children who may otherwise not have taken up swimming may realise how enjoyable it is and it would be great if this encouraged people to participate in the sport on a more regular basis.”
The sessions will be offered in conjunction with Active Nation, which runs the leisure centres for the council, allowing youngsters to swim for free for 45 minutes per session.
The council will provide more details on how to participate in the free swimming sessions in coming months.
