Chesnara to strengthen board

Business news from the Lancashire Evening Post

Business news from the Lancashire Evening Post

A Preston-based life assurance firm is to appoint a pair of new directors.

Chesnara plc, which operates under brands including Countrywide Assured, confirmed on Wednesday it has appointed Veronica France and David Brand as non-executive directors.

Both will join the board of the Countrywide Assured subsidiary with Mrs France joining its profits committee and Mr Brand joining the board of Chesnara’s Swedish subsidiary, Movestic Livförsäkring AB.

They will replace Mike Gordon and Terry Marris, who have been non-executive directors since the launch of the company in 2004.

Chairman Peter Mason said the new appointments would bring “extremely valuable experience, knowledge and skills” to the business, which has its head office at Harbour House on Preston docks.

He added: “I would like to take this opportunity to note the valuable contribution that both Mike and Terry have brought to the considerable success the group has had since we listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2004.

“This has, in no small part, been due to the wisdom and commitment they have demonstrated during their tenure.

“The board thanks them on behalf of shareholders, and wishes them every success for the future.”

The departures and arrivals to the board are subject to a vote at the company’s annual general meeting in May.
