Charity steps in to help Meg

A teenager with a dream of wearing a pair of shoes will enjoy a spectacular day courtesy of top shoe designer Jimmy Choo.

Like many teenage girls, Megan Owen, 14, is obsessed with shoes and

girly fashion.

But unlike most girls her age, Megan does not own a pair of shoes as she suffers from a genetic muscle wasting disease.

Megan, of Hoghton, near Preston, has spinal muscular atrophy, which causes muscles to weaken.

Thanks to the Make A Wish charity, Megan is now to get the A-list treatment after Jimmy Choo vowed to close his exclusive London Sloane Street store to show her around.

Over the years, Megan's disease has got progressively worse and she can

now no longer move any of her limbs at all.

Megan's condition means her feet point downwards like a ballet dancer's

and she cannot bend them.

As a result, she cannot wear shoes, although she is fascinated by them

and longs to own a pair.

Her mum Karen said: "Megan is a real girly girl and loves pink and glitter and is obsessed with shoes.

"When Megan was born, we thought she was a normal healthy little girl.

"It was only when she was about 18 months old that we suspected there

was something wrong as she was walking on her tiptoes.

"Now the muscles in her chest have been affected and over the last few

months she has been struggling to breathe."

Make A Wish grants wishes for children with life-threatening conditions.
