Charity in TV vote for £50,000
A children's centre in Lancashire has been shortlisted for a £50,000 grant from The People's Millions, which is part of the Big Lottery Fund.
The Legacy Rainbow House, at Eccleston, near Chorley, will go head-to-head with another project in a televised appeal later this month, with the one with most votes from the public winning the 50,000 prize.
Joe Mawdsley, founder and director of services at The Legacy Rainbow House, said: "We are asking everyone who knows about our work, and the huge benefits it brings to children with disabilities and their families from right across the North West, to please show your support and please vote for us."
The funding will go to build an interactive adventure playground for the children and there will also be an adventure trail with activities such as tunnels, balance beams, climbing activities and a tyre walk.
The lines are open for voting from 9am to 12 midnight on Thursday, November 27 and households can vote up to 10 times. Supporters can visit www.biglotteryfund.org.uk from 9am on November 27 to find the number to call.
Rainbow House was established in 2001 by Joe Mawdsley in response to the needs of her two children. There are now more than 170 children attending Rainbow House centres.
