A charity for the blind will host its first ever ‘Party at the Park’ event next Saturday, July 19
Galloway’s Society for the Blind, based in Penwortham, near Preston, will host the event in the grounds of its head office, Howick House, off Liverpool Road in Penwortham.
The aim of the event is to raise awareness and provide a fun day for the community.
Party at the Park, will run from 11am until 4pm and will feature a variety of activities including bouncy castles, face painting, food, a variety of stalls of craft and produce, a showcase of the charities services and more.
The charity will close its car park and use the entire grounds of Howick House, to welcome the community into the event.
Emma Russ, senior fundraiser, said: “We’re really excited about our first Party in the Park here at Galloway’s. We have such fantastic support from our local area so we really wanted to host a fun family day to invite people in and show them what we’re really about. There really will be something for everybody including a programme of entertainment from a variety of acts in the area. It costs just £1 for a group to enter.
“We’re really looking forward to showcasing our services at the event; we have a fantastic outdoor pursuits group amongst other things that really demonstrate how we help visually impaired people regain independence in such a sighted world.”
