Derian House is set to stage its first ever Dames on the Run event – a 5k fun run for men dressed up as pantomime dames.
The fund-raising race, which takes place on Sunday, October 11, at Astley Park, is being staged by the hospice to recognise the role of the Derian Dads, who do so much to support their children with life-shortening conditions.
Derian is hoping to raise £5,000 from the event.
There will be prizes on offer for the race winner as well as the ‘Best Dressed Dame’ and also a selfie competition.
The race starts at 11am and costs £10 to enter. For more information visit call 01257 271 271.
The race had sparked controversy after a transsexual group made claims the race was dehumanising.
Lancashire Police were alerted but after talks between the person who made the complain and Derian, the issue was resolved amicably.
