Keen runners in Preston are being urged to sign up for one of eight places in the Virgin London Marthon - in the name of Penwortham-based charity Galloway’s Society for the Blind.
Emma Russ, Senior Fundraiser for Galloway’s, said: “The demand for places in this event is just huge and every year we know of many people who are left disappointed in the public ballot.
“We have just eight places in the Virgin London Marathon and due to their demand we’re looking to fill them quickly.”
“As a charity, we support our runners by offering them support and advice, not only with their fundraising but their training too.
“We understand that not everybody is fit for a marathon but we’re keen to find people in the area who are wanting to really challenge themselves and make a huge difference to local blind and partially sighted people.”
Galloway’s is committed to ensuring that blind and partially sighted people have opportunities the sighted world take for granted and offer a range of services to people living with sight loss including; specialist equipment and advice, talking newspaper, training, escorted holidays and short trips.
