Organisers of Race for Life events in the North West visited all of its 21 race locations – including Preston – in 21 hours to encourage ladies to sign up.
To raise awareness of the event, the team took on the huge challenge of visiting all 21 venues across the North West and North Wales.
They started at Caernarfon at 5am yesterday and visited placed including Preston, Lancaster, Wigan and the Wirral, before finishing the journey in Chester.
Ladies in Preston are being urged to fight back against cancer by entering the 5k or 10k events in Moor Park, Preston on Sunday May 24.
The city has also been chosen to host one of just four Race for Life Pretty Muddy events taking place in the North West this summer.
Pretty Muddy is a women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course.
It will take place for the first time in the city at Moor Park on Saturday July 18.
Maria Montgomery, Cancer Research UK’s Event Manager, said the day was a great way to showcase all its venues.
She added: “We hope we can persuade as many women to sign up to Race for Life as possible.
“Race for Life is non-competitive. It’s not about being fit or fast. Most women are able to walk 5k in an hour while chatting and having fun. Or they can choose to jog, run or charge around the course if they prefer.’’
“We’re calling on the brave ladies of the North West to show their fighting spirit once more and take on cancer at this year’s event.”
