A community centre looks set to reopen one year after it was boarded up.
Tanterton Community Centre was closed down last May, but an action group is working on its future.
The group is setting plans in place ahead of a formal reopening in May, and is working on details for its revival.
Preston Council’s cabinet last year approved plans for an action group to take over the centre, on a year’s probation.
Ingol councillor Bill Shannon said: “The main thing we want to do is get a group of youths in Tanterton in here and find out what they want.
“It is very much bottom up - we want to find out what people want and then do it.
“We want to have a youth forum that will work with us - there’s no point saying let’s raise money and buy a pool table if that’s not what the kids want.” He added: “It is a very exciting time.”
The group hopes to start a community cafe at the centre. Volunteer Dave Speakman said: “It is going to be vibrant and welcoming and engaging with the community.”
