A HOUSING association has celebrated the laying of the first bricks at its newest housing development.

Community Gateway Association’s (CGA) new Meadow House development is made up of 16 homes, with funding coming from the Homes and Communities Agency and Adactus.

The site, which was a former sheltered scheme, is adjacent to the St Ignatius conservation area.

Irene Bailey, CGA Chairman said: “I am privileged to be here as we lay the foundations to our fantastic new development.

“Meadow House is in the heart of a thriving community and this development will provide much needed affordable housing in Preston.”

The new site follows in the footsteps of the association’s other developments at Patterdale Close, Adelphi Street, Howarth Road and Larches. In 2012/13 the organisation developed over 100 new homes.

The new homes are being constructed by local developer Whittle Construction.

The homes will be ready for new tenants in November 2014.
