CCTV dents crime figures

Crime in Garstang and Over Wyre fell dramatically over the festive period, police have claimed.

Officers in the Lancashire market town said a new CCTV system, introduced at the end of last year, has played a major part.

Sgt Lindsay Brown said: "It's certainly down on last year, and this is probably due to the number of initiatives at the moment, as well as the CCTV system that has recently been switched on in Garstang.

"Our biggest problem now is criminal damage."
