Police have released CCTV images of two women they want to speak to after a substantial amount of telephone cards were stolen in Preston.
Around 12.20pm on Saturday, August 3, two women entered the Adelphi Express newsagent on Adelphi Street.
Police believe one of the women distracted the lone cashier as the other reached behind the counter and grabbed a box of international calling cards, which she put in her handbag before leaving the shop without paying.
PC Paul Goulding said: “While one woman engaged the cashier in conversation, the other took advantage and was able to steal a substantial amount of telephone cards.
“We are very keen to speak with the women on CCTV, if anybody recognises them, or has any information about this theft, they are asked to call police. I am also keen to speak with anybody who may have been offered these types of calling cards in the local area or beyond.”
Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
