Charity walker Cath Greenlees had a pleasant surprise when she returned from her latest long-distance trek in aid of Christian Aid.

Waiting at home was a £100 donation from someone she met along the way.

Last month Cath, 69. of Longton, walked 100 miles of the Three Choirs Way, a walk linking Worcester, Hereford and Gloucester.

Cath said: “I met Ann Clift, the landlady of the Talbot Inn at Knightwick during the walk. She had recently done a sponsored walk for her local hospice, so she was keen to hear about where and why I was walking.

“She has a nephew serving in Afghanistan and was particularly interested in Christian Aid’s work with women and girls in Afghanistan. Our meeting was only brief, but her donation was so generous.”

Cath has raised around £2,000 from the walk.
