Eleven groups who do work to benefit the residents of Morecambe are to share more than £5,000 in grants from the town council.
Ten are to receive £500 each, with the eleventh picking up an award for £350.
Amongst those benefitting are the Morecambe Foyer which helps young people get on to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Familes@Five will also get cash to run monthly sessions to engage families.
The 1st Morecambe and Heysham Boys Brigade will receive cash to buy a new table tennis table and Morecambe Road School will also get a grant towards the cost of stage lighting for their Christmas performance.
The World War 1 Poppy Organisation will use their grant to advertise a plot of land at Happy Mount Park where the public can scatter poppy seeds to make a garden for the centenary next year. And Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club are also amongst the groups getting cash help.
