THOUSANDS of pounds raised from the Leyland Festival has now been donated to charity.
Tim Burridge, President of the Rotary Club of Leyland, presented a cheque for £5,500 to the group’s chosen charities.
Among those to benefit will be The Rosemere Cancer Foundation, DEBRA, St Catherine’s Hospice, Sue Ryder and Galloway’s Society for the Blind.
The British Commercial Vehicle Museum also received a donation in recognition of the role they play and the support they give to the festival.
The remainder of the money raised will be used to establish the ‘Festival Spirit Fund’, to benefit good causes.
Coun Phil Smith, South Ribble Borough Council’s Cabinet member for regeneration, leisure and healthy communities said: “A staggering £10,000 was raised from this year’s festival. It was a wonderful occasion for the people of South Ribble.”
