A carer who works for a Preston home-care company has been recognised for excellence in the care sector.

Chantel O’Reilly, 30, from Penwortham, has been shortlisted for Home Care Co-ordinator of the Year at the sixth annual North West Great British Care Awards.

The category honours unsung heroes that demonstrate best practice within the home care sector, by mobilising and managing efficient teams.

Chantel, who works for Community Life Choices will now undergo a judging day with a panel of industry peers who will decide the overall winner for each category, to be announced at a gala dinner in November. If successful, Chantel will progress onto the national ceremony to be held early 2015.

Chantel said: “This achievement tops off a superb year for the team and I. As a home care co-ordinator it’s about having a love for what you do and a passion for helping others to achieve individual outcomes – that’s what fuels you every day.”

Maria Scullion, HR and support manager at Community Life Choices, added: “Chantel has made significant impact in a short time. She is a much-loved, highly-valued member of the team who goes above and beyond the call of duty, always with a smile on her face, to ensure our clients receive the very best standard of care.”
