THE organisers of this year’s Preston Caribbean Carnival are calling for volunteers to help with the event.

The carnival will be held on June 21, and is billed as the “biggest party” the city will see this year.

Chairman of this year’s carnival committee, Elaine Webb, said there were many aspects volunteers could help with.

She said: “It is an exciting event to be involved in with lots of unusual and enjoyable tasks.

“The Carnival committee gets involved with organising costumes, co-ordinating dance troops, arranging the route of the procession around Preston and managing the crowds on the day.

“All while enjoying breath-taking costumes, music and dance inspired by the Caribbean. Whatever their skills or experience, there is always something volunteers can help the Carnival team with.”

This year’s Caribbean Carnival is anticipated to draw in a crowd of 15,000 to the city.
