Cabbie banned after letting down police car's tyres

A taxi driver has lost his licence for letting down the tyres of a police car.

John Mayor, of Brook Road, Morecambe, had his private hire driver's licence taken off him by Lancaster City Council in November 2008.

He committed the offence after being given a fixed penalty notice by PC Brian Mills-Woods for driving in a bus lane on September 20.

He was arrested and had his licence revoked by the council's licensing regulatory committee.

On Thursday, magistrates upheld the decision and said Mayor was not a fit and proper person to drive members of the public.
