WORK is under way to prepare one of Lancashire’s premier venues for the county’s biggest business awards.
The Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs, has started work on reflooring balconies at the Blackpool Tower.
That will enable organisers to squeeze in the 913 guests due to attend its prize-giving ceremony.
The ceremony has been a sell-out for more than a month with organisers, the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, even running a waiting list for those still keen to attend.
Chamber chief executive Babs Murphy said the work being undertaken at the Tower would ensure guests and sponsors had a night to remember. She said: “For the first time, our sponsors will be able to view the prize-giving from their own boxes looking out over the spectacular setting the BIBAs always deliver.
“We are also working with the Blackpool Tower to refloor the balcony spaces to allow us to get every member of the Lancashire business community who wishes to attend in on the night.
“The BIBAs is always a special night and with just a month to go until the big night we are leaving no stone unturned to make sure that is the case again in 2013.”
The chief executive also revealed that every winner will also receive a special gift along with their iconic BIBAs trophy.
The hand-crafted trophy was designed by award-winning sculptor, Charles Hadcock, and has taken pride of place in businesses across the county for many years.
The organisers are also promising a stunning line-up of entertainment for the awards ceremony on Friday, September 20.
The sell-out crowd will see 18 prizes handed out some of the county’s leading businesses.
