Visitors to Preston city centre’s shops are being asked to vote for the “Best Dressed Window”.
Many of the city’s leading retailers will compete to win the accolade of Preston’s best dressed shop and net their workforce a company night out – paid for by the St. George’s and Fishergate Shopping Centres.
From September 1 to 23, members of the public can vote from their smartphones by scanning the poster in the windows taking part.
They can also cast their votes at www.SurveyMonkey.com/s/Prestonwindow
Chair of Preston’s City Retail Forum, Andrew Stringer of St George’s said: “This competition is about more than just making a nice looking display – it’s about retailers coming together in a healthy competition and encouraging the city’s customers to look a little more closely at shops and businesses that they might not ordinarily visit.”
Keith Mitchell, Manager of the Fishergate Shopping centre, co-sponsors of the competition said: “We’re pleased to be supporting this competition and would encourage as many retailers as possible to enter.
“It’s a great opportunity for members of the public to get involved, have a good look around the city centre and cast their vote.”
The winning store will be handed £500 worth of “Preston Pounds” to organise a celebration for their staff members, which will be spent in the city centre.
Throughout September and October there are several activities planned, including a city centre wide treasure hunt, invitation-only events and a city fashion show.
Kevin Barrett, Operations Officer from the Preston Business Improvement District, said: “Many of the city’s favourite retailers are now represented on the forum, giving us a great base from which to continually work together.”
