A Lancashire firm is marking its 10th anniversary by creating two new director’s roles.

True Bearing Chartered are celebrating a decade helping North West people plan for a more secure future through the provision of first class independent financial advice.

Founded in 2003 in Euxton near Chorley, Lancashire, the firm was the vision of current chairman George Critchley, who was ‘dissatisfied with the quality of advice clients were getting in the North West.’

Together with existing Directors Mike Clarke and Mark O’Neill, they set out to build a firm and a reputation that has come to be regarded among the very best IFA firms in the North West.

In 2012, True Bearing Chartered was named Financial Business of the Year at the Lancashire ‘Red Rose’ Business Awards 2012, and runner up in the BIBA’s Employer of the Year category.

George Critchley, Chairman, says: “A decade ago we said if we could just give good advice and good service, we’d be almost unique in the financial services world.

“Ten years later that is even more true! Our aim was and still is to be the Premier Chartered Financial Planning firm in the North West. “

In tough economic times for UK regions outside the South East, the firm continues to flourish. In the last year the team has grown, with 16 new appointments taking the total staff and advisors to 49.

The two new directors are a timely response to recent figures from the Cranfield School of Management, which found appointments of women to board-level roles in the UK had plateaued.

True Bearing Chartered has bucked the trend appointing Operations Manager, Susan Peary to the role of Joint Managing Director and Helen Lupton, formerly Compliance, Training and Compliance Manager the role of Compliance Director.

The firm is one of the first IFAs in the UK to receive the Gold Standard Investors in People award. Currently around 200 organisations have earned Gold Status (less than 1% of the organisations working with Investors in People).

True Bearing Chartered was also awarded the prestigious Corporate Chartered Status in 2010 and stands in the top 4% of the country’s IFA Firms by qualification.

Their unique business model has helped placed the firm as one of the North West’s most highly qualified and entrepreneurial IFA firms.

The firm continues to attract clients with their no-nonsense approach and honest, uncomplicated financial advice.

True Bearing Chartered is recognised as a regional specialist for Care Fees Planning. The Firm has created a “Centre of Excellence”, around advice to the public on paying for care.

They have also organised a training days for solicitors and other advisers, attracting key speakers such as barrister Tish Hanifan.
