Two Lancashire businesses are on the shortlist for the Real Business Growing Business Awards, held in association with Lloyds Bank and supported by the CBI.

Businessman Simon Mellin has made it through to the final round of judging in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category. Mellin co-founded two highly successful start-ups in recent years, Roaming Roosters and Grass Roots Wholesale Foods Ltd. Having started out in the back room of his father’s butchers shop his food, farming and butchery related businesses have enjoyed rapid growth and are on track to amass £4m this year.

Lancashire-based Meltech Engineering Limited have also been shortlisted for The “Made in Britain” Award – which celebrates products, and innovations primarily developed, designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK.
