A trio of tourism heroes have been shortlisted for the Superstar category at the Lancashire Tourism Awards.
Almost 2,000 Lancashire Evening Post readers voted online at lep.co.uk for the people they think have made a special contribution to the tourism industry in the Red Rose county.
The three finalists are Roger Carter, chairman of Bay Tourism Association; Sue Copp who works in guest services and inclusion at Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool, and BBC Radio Lancashire’s John ‘Gilly’ Gillmore.
Roger has enjoyed a career in tourism and hospitality spanning over 30 years and has been chaitman of the BTA for five.
Sue has worked at Sandcastle Waterpark for 20 years and has become an ambassador for the resort in that time, while Gilly has become one of the best known voices in local radio over the last 28 years on the airwaves.
Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire said: “All of the nominees in the Tourism Superstar category make an incredible difference to the visitor experience in Lancashire.
“The public response to the online vote has been phenomenal and highlights those who contribute to the success of the £3.5bn visitor economy. The voters have decided on their three finalists and the outright winner will be announced on Thursday November 6 in The Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Thank you to all those who voted and we wish the finalists the very best of luck.”
The event will be hosted by journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant. See lancashiretourismawards.co.uk
