Technology firms merge to go global
Technology specialists have completed a merger which will help them target new markets abroad.
Web designers Design Logix and vehicle tracking experts SDS Technology Group have completed the move in Preston.
Design Logix offers online solutions such as web hosting, web design and email marketing, to clients including HSBC and Bordeaux Index, and it recently achieved approved supplier status from the BBC and NHS.
It is hoped the merger will help the SDS group expand in key markets, including Europe and America, by offering more complete solutions to business needs.
The company currently provides satellite navigation technology to help track fleets of vehicles and has clients in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland and Denmark.
Andy Hardman, one of the company's directors, said: "The main business is vehicle tracking and previously, the software element was outsourced.
"The merger has allowed that to be brought in-house. It will also give us more flexibility for our clients.
"We want to expand vehicle tracking technology to larger utility companies.
"We also want to focus on Europe and the United States."
Based at the Media Factory at the University of Central Lancashire, the firm employs a number of UCLan graduates among its 15 staff.
SDS also has a hot desk facility at Daresbury Science and Innovation Park in Warrington.
