Pub veteran officially opens new look Lostock Hall pub

A stalwart staff member played a star role as a pub marked the start of a new era following a major refurbishment.

The Victoria in Lostock Hall has reopened with The Vic - after its nickname - as its new moniker.

Pub bosses have spent £250,000 renovating the venue as it had become tired and required a touch of “tender loving care.”

Long-serving pint-puller and loyal regular Elizabeth Waddington officially opened the new-look pub this week.

The 70-year-old, who has worked at the Vic for more than 30 years and celebrated her 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays there, said: “I felt at home in here straight away and that’s never changed.

“It’s always had a fantastic atmosphere and now it has got a fantastic look to match.”

Elizabeth currently works at the pub with her daughter Delores and her connection runs even deeper as she met her husband, John, there.

The investment has enabled a substantial makeover for both the inside and outside facilities at the venue.

Licensees Ian Molyneux, Kevin Franklin and Kelly Moran took over The Vic in 2016. Mr Molyneux said:“I’ve managed pubs in Lostock Hall in the past and loved it.

“It’s a really friendly village and it’s a dream come true to have a pub here again.”

The pub’s opening hours have been extended to 12pm as part of the re-opening and the owners hope to host regular live music.
