Preston’s two park and ride bus routes will be combined to create one circular.
Separate services running from the city’s two park and ride sites - at Portway, off Strand Road, and London Road, Walton-le-Dale - will be merged from March 4.
It will mean more stops in the city centre and along Fishergate, but there will no longer be a stop on Lune Street.
There will also be a 10p rise in off-peak adult return fare, but a saving on family tickets.
Fiona Whalley, marketing manager at Preston Bus said: “We looked at changing the routes to offer customers a bit more choice.
“We were getting comments from people in Walton-le-Dale who said they wanted to get further into the city - the current service stopped at Jacson Street.
“Now, if you get on at Walton-le-Dale you can get off along Fishergate.”
The new Service One will link the Walton-le-Dale park and ride with central city bus stops and the railway station.
Customers using the Portway site will be able to stop at the railway station as before, but will also have better access of the east side of the city centre, including Preston Market and Preston Crown Court.
The off-peak adult return fare will increase by 10p to £1.30. Bosses at Preston Bus said it was the first price rise for ‘at least three years’.
The family return ticket will be standardised to £3 all day, a £2 saving on the old peak time family fare.
Mike Kirby, director of transport and environment at Lancashire County Council, said: “We’re making some small changes to Preston’s park and ride service to make it more attractive and easy to use, and financially sustainable to operate.
“By having buses travel between both sites rather than operate independently they’ll be able to take passengers through Preston city centre which will make it an even better option for shoppers, commuters and people who want to reach the railway station.”
