Bakers Greggs has completed a major remodel of its shops in Preston city centre, transforming them into new-look “food-on-the-go” outlets.

Preston Mayor Coun Nick Pomfret helped mark the completion of the £300,000 investment programme by officially re-opening the new-look Greggs Market Square shop on Orchard Street.

The newly re-opened shops have all been redesigned with a contemporary interior that draws on Greggs bakery heritage, but is designed to meet the demands of the modern retail environment.

Greggs’ shops in Friargate Walk and Fishergate Walk have also been refurbished.

Raymond Reynolds, retail director for Greggs, said: “We are delighted to be able to invest in Preston City Centre and provide our valued customers with a modern and comfortable upgrade to the shops.

“This project underlines our long-term commitment to the area and I’m sure will be enjoyed by existing and new customers alike.”

Mark Whittle, Preston City Centre Business Improvement District Marketing & Events Manager, said: “Preston is a great place to do business. We’re delighted that Greggs have elected to invest in their city centre store to ensure they remain committed to exceeding customer expectations.

“Our city centre has the perfect mix of independent businesses and recognised national brands like Greggs – we hope to see them serving the people of Preston for decades to come.”
