Lee Sharpe delighted football fans when the then England international played in a Lancashire Cup match against Blackpool FC as the Seasiders took on Manchester United in the summer of 1993.
Now he is set to make another memorable visit to the area, with an appearance at a sportsmans dinner.
The event, at The Villa in Wrea Green, near Preston, is on Friday, October 30 and has been organised by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.
As well as hearing some of those tantalising behind-the-scenes stories of what life was really like as a United player under Alex Ferguson, Lee will talk about his life beyond Old Trafford with Leeds, Bradford and a string of other clubs.
Comedian Austin Knight will also provide further entertainment at the event, which will be hosted by MC Mark Jones.
Lee said: “I am very lucky to have enjoyed a footballing career that saw me play under one of the greatest managers of all time.
“Now it gives me great pleasure to share my stories of that time in my life with those who love the game as much as I do.
“I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at The Villa. It should be a great night.”
The evening will also include an auction with proceeds going to The BIBAs Foundation, a charity that helps 16 to 24-year-olds to develop skills in a bid to create an entrepreneurial spirit in Lancashire.
Chamber chief executive Babs Murphy said: “These sportsman’s dinners are always popular and very well attended by Chamber members and the wider business community.
“I would urge those wanting to book their place to do so quickly to avoid disappointment.”
