Seema Kennedy, MP for South Ribble, highlighted in Parliament concerns of her constituents over fracking.

Noting that South Ribble is known for its agricultural output she asked for “reassurance from the government that there will be no seepage to the water table, and that pipes will not develop fissures”.

Mrs Kennedy also asked for guarantees that jobs fracking promises to create would offer “apprenticeships and employ local people” training them in skilled, long term work. She argued the jobs provided needed to meet the needs of the local market rather than simply being low skilled, low paid opportunities.
