Eric Wright Construction has been appointed main contractor for a massive £11m project.

The Bamber Bridge firm is in charge of the building of a new flagship office building in Wirral Enterprise Zone for Longmeadow Estates.

Eric Wright Construction is now on site in Birkenhead and the £11m Tower Wharf scheme is due for completion in October 2015.

Jonathon Rayner, Eric Wright Construction’s operations director, said: “We’re really pleased to have been appointed to deliver this project and to have kick-started development work at the Enterprise Zone.

“In addition to building on our extensive commercial experience, this project will deliver much needed accommodation and employment opportunities for a scheme which will boost business and generate investment into the area for many years to come.”

Karl Bergh, managing director of Longmeadow Estates, said: “We are extremely pleased to have Eric Wright Construction on board with this project given the company’s outstanding track record and well-earned reputation.”

The Tower Wharf project will see construction of a four-storey Grade A office building comprising 48,000 sq ft of net lettable space on what is currently a cleared but partly contaminated site.

The building, which is expected to provide accommodation for around 800 new jobs, is the first of its kind to be started within the Enterprise Zone.

Carl Moore, head of area for Liverpool City Region at the HCA, said: “Work getting underway at Tower Wharf is a really important step in the wider Enterprise Zone, which will bring both new jobs and a welcome economic boost to the area.”

The Eric Wright group was formed in 1979 and now employs more than 50 people and has a turnover of £150m.

Founder Mr Wright was awarded the Lancastrian of the Year lifetime achievement award at the Be Inspired Business Awards at Blackpool Tower in September.

The group also operates a charitable trust behind community projects.
